SUMMARY:Roaring Fork Rising: Patio Night Live
DESCRIPTION:Patio Night Live was born of the pandemic in the spring of 2020. With few outlets to perform Miller Ford and Beth Brandon teamed up to do stand up comedy from Beth’s front porch. \nBeth Brandon is a founding member of Patio Night Live and has been performing and producing stand up comedy near and far since 2006. She’s a local columnist for the Aspen Daily News and is Second City educated. \nMiller Ford is a founding member of Patio Night Live and Consensual Improv. Miller is a staple in the RFV comedy scene. He has toured with Warren Miller productions as an emcee. He has made an appearance on the popular comedy Podcast Kill Tony. He also hosts events all over the Roaring Fork Valley for various non-profits. \nGarrett Hall is a local comedian by way of Las Vegas. As a southerner and 10 year US Air Force veteran\, Garrett has a unique perspective on life and the world around him. His comedy is introspective and relatable\, yet unpredictable. Garrett can be seen on CMT\, VetTV and Viceland as well as in comedy clubs all over the country. \nMichael Coyle is a comedian based in the Roaring Fork Valley\, known for his edgy misdirection\, sharp wit\, charming flair\, and knack for surprising punchlines. He has been seen at venues across  Colorado including the Comedy Works in Denver and the was winner of the 2024 comedy competition. \nZoë Rom is a writer\, journalist and elite ultrarunner from Carbondale\, CO. Her comedy has been featured around the Roaring Fork Valley and at the Rise Comedy Festival\, and she performs with Consensual Improv. She currently hosts the Your Diet Sucks podcast. Zoë likes expensive coffee and cheap whiskey.

This intimate event marks the culmination of a two-day songwriting workshop with Inspire Aspen’s students\, where they have had the opportunity to collaborate\, create\, and refine their original songs. During the performance\, the students will not only showcase their work but also share the stories and inspirations behind their songs\, providing a deeper connection to the music. Join us for an evening of creativity\, inspiration\, and the power of storytelling through song. \nColleen McKenna blends the heart of classic country with the soul of faith-driven storytelling. Originally from Ohio\, she moved to Nashville after high school and quickly made a name for herself\, hosting songwriter rounds at the Listening Room Cafe and penning lead singles for the Ryan Waters Band. At just 20\, her lyrics explore love\, heartbreak\, and hope with a voice far beyond her years. Her music spans both country and Christian genres\, with viral hits like “WWJD” and original worship songs such as “Revival” and “Reason to Trust.” With two independent country projects—Rewind and Broken Record—and performances across the U.S.\, Mexico\, and Italy\, McKenna continues to craft music that connects across stages\, sanctuaries\, and everywhere in between. \nTristan Trincado is quickly getting recognized for his old soul expressive vocals that sing straight to the heart. As senior at Basalt High School\, he captured the attention of the Inspire Aspen Foundation and emerged victorious in their prestigious\, Aspen Rocks\, in 2024. His debut original song\, “Sinner\,” is now available on all music platforms and is featured on the @gibsonguitar playlist\, where he has been proudly named the CEO’s favorite new artist. \nGracie Searle-Feinberg has a unique singer/songwriter style and her catchy lyrics will make you forget she’s a senior at Aspen High School. Since the age of 9\, she has been writing her own music and performing on the streets of Aspen. Currently\, she is in the process of creating her debut album at Mad Dog Ranch+Studios\, working alongside the Inspire Aspen Foundation. Notably\, Gracie was a winner in their esteemed program\, Aspen Rocks\, in 2022. Proceeds from the event will benefit Inspire Aspen Foundation and go towards giving unique opportunities to student musicians in the Aspen Snowmass Roaring Fork Valley to pursue their talents and musical journeys. DESCRIPTION:Jacob Jolliff is one of the world’s premier contemporary mandolinists. In 2011\, he graduated from Berklee College of Music\, having studied there on a full scholarship. The following year\, in 2012\, he won the USA’s National Mandolin Championship in Winfield\, KS. A fixture of the bluegrass scene\, he has performed and collaborated with Béla Fleck\, Tony Trischka\, Michael Daves\, Grant Gordy\, Wes Corbett\, and Alex Hargreaves\, to name a few. Additionally\, throughout his 20s\, he toured as a member of the groups Joy Kills Sorrow and Yonder Mountain String Band. Currently\, his focus is on his own ensemble\, The Jacob Jolliff Band—one of the most cutting-edge progressive bluegrass groups on the scene today. They’ve released three albums\, the most recent of which\, “Instrumentals\, Vol. 2: Mandolin Mysteries\,” dropped in May 2024. The band plays a combination of complex original instrumental music and vocal repertoire that spans from trad bluegrass to unlikely pop covers. SUMMARY:Andy Thorn of Leftover Salmon & Erik Deutsch of Black Crowes
DESCRIPTION:In Colorado in 2016\, pianist Erik Deutsch ( Black Crowes) and banjoist Andy Thorn (Leftover Salmon) met for the first time\, when Erik showed up for his first Leftover Salmon gig at the Stanley Hotel. It didn’t take long for the like-minded musicians to click. Over the next four years\, Leftover Salmon’s stage-left lit up as the two developed an undeniable musical chemistry. In their original collaborations\, they blend piano and banjo to create lush acoustic landscapes and classical-inflected forays. Their original songs dance between bluegrass\, jazz\, and folk\, while showcasing the musical connection and language that these two accomplished players have honed on stage over the years. \nLeftover Salmon banjo player Andy Thorn never expected to go viral. But in 2021\, he was in his backyard\, playing an improvised banjo tune to a wild fox\, when his wife caught the whole thing on video. The video made headlines around the world. Soon\, Andy was interviewed on the Kelly Clarkson Show and A & E’s Neighborhood Wars. Even NPR’s Political Gabfest discussed the video. A New York Times writer called it “a moment plucked from Aesop.” \nStunned by the publicity\, Andy finally recorded it (“Aesop Mountain”)\, along with 14 other banjo instrumentals. The resulting album\, “Songs of the Sunrise Fox\,” stands in contrast to the music Andy normally plays with Leftover Salmon. This album isn’t about the flashy banjo picking favored by jam bands. Instead\, it’s the banjo melodies Andy would play for his friend “Foxy” at sunrise. \n \nPianist and genre-bending sideman\, Erik Deutsch currently resides in Mexico City. Over the 30-year span of his career in Brooklyn and Boulder\, he has performed and recorded with pop\, rock\, country\, and jazz artists like Norah Jones\, Citizen Cope\, Shooter Jennings\, Shelby Lynne\,  Joe Russo\, Steven Tyler\, Ron Wood\, Lukas Nelson\, Levon Helm\, John Scofield\, Phil Lesh\, Gary Clark Jr.\, Bill Kreutzman\, Del McCoury\, Warren Haynes\, Karl Denson\, and many more. \nSince 2022\, Erik has been the full-time keyboardist for rock legends The Black Crowes\, performing on five different continents and being an integral musical contributor to their Grammy-nominated album ‘Happiness Bastards’. \nA prolific composer and bandleader in his own right\, Erik’s eight solo albums have received critical acclaim by RollingStone\, Jazz Times\, USA Today\, and the Huffington Post\, including Relix magazine naming Deutsch’s album ‘Outlaw Jazz’ the #16 best album of 2015. Recently voted the #5 Rising Star Organist in Downbeat Magazine’s annual poll\, and  recognized in consecutive years. Erik’s 9th LP—’This Was Then’—is due in July of 2025 on Hammer & String. \n \n

DESCRIPTION:Sam Grisman is a bass player\, music appreciator\, and bandleader who grew up in Mill Valley\, California in a home where some of the great acoustic music of our time was being recorded on a regular basis. His father\, legendary mandolinist\, composer\, and producer\, David Grisman\, was constantly having friends come over to his home studio for recording sessions and rehearsals. These friends\, such as Doc Watson\, Jerry Garcia\, John Hartford\, Mike Seeger\, and Tony Rice all left an impression on the younger Grisman and inspired him to pursue a life making music with his many talented friends. \n“They don’t just play this music. They live it. And they make you feel like you’re part of it too.” — No Depression \nSam Grisman Project was created to shed light on the music that Sam grew up around\, and highlight that music’s influence on the members of the collective and in the greater music community.
