SUMMARY:Mozart’s Così fan tutte
DESCRIPTION:Opera luminary Renée Fleming directs rising stars from Aspen Opera Theater and VocalARTS program in Mozart’s sublime—and some may say ridiculous—sex farce. See what unfolds when an old cynic makes a bet with two younger friends that their fiancées will be unfaithful. The plot may seem silly on its face\, but through the genius of Mozart’s music and DaPonte’s libretto\, you may discover deeper meanings and questions about the nature of love\, the conflict between reason and emotion\, and the consequences of idealizing others. Hear some of the most exquisite music ever written for the opera stage in the intimate and historic Wheeler Opera House! Ticketing for this event is through the Aspen Music Festival and School (AMFS). For event-specific and ticket-related questions\, please contact AMFS at https://www.aspenmusicfestival.com/events/buy-tickets. For venue related questions\, please contact the Wheeler Opera House.

SUMMARY:Tennessee Williams' A Streetcar Named Desire
DESCRIPTION:An airplane hanger\, a church\, a bar\, a warehouse\, a dining hall\, a movie theater\, a home\, a library\, a boutique\, a barn…for the past two years The Streetcar Project has toured Tennessee Williams’ masterpiece\, A Streetcar Named Desire\, to unconventional spaces around the country — and it comes\, for the first time\, to Aspen. \nThere is a vital need right now to create new economically viable forms of theater. Working class artists must reclaim a central role in the creation and presentation of their own work. In that spirit\, director Nick Westrate and Lucy Owen have created a version of A Streetcar Named Desire like none other. Presenting Tennessee Williams’s complete\, unabridged text with no props\, or set this production is designed to be performed everywhere. It’s hyper intimate\, completely unique\, and incredibly revealing. This production strips bare to the bones the greatest piece of American drama. \nFor four nights\, the ghosts of Blanche\, Stella\, Mitch and Stanley will haunt the Wheeler Opera House’s historic Vault Lobby. Come see the landmark site-specific production reimagine how this beautiful space can hold a play. You’ve never seen A Streetcar Named Desire like this before\, and you never will again. \n“A Streetcar Named Desire” contains mature themes\, strong language\, and depictions of violence against women. Viewer discretion is advised. This performance is recommended for mature audiences.

SUMMARY:AIR 2025: André 3000\, New Blue Sun
DESCRIPTION:André 3000 will no longer be performing at the inaugural AIR Festival due to unforeseen personal circumstances. Aspen Art Museum and The Wheeler Opera House wish him all the best at this time and we look forward to sharing updates with you all about future AIR programming.  \nNew Blue Sun\nAndré 3000 \nAndré 3000 brings to AIR a live performance of his Grammy-nominated album New Blue Sun. Joined on the Wheeler Opera House stage by multi-instrumentalists Carlos Niño and Nate Mercereau\, keyboardist Surya Botofasina\, and percussionist Deantoni Parks\, André 3000 performs a myriad of flutes from around the world in a set featuring both acoustic and electronic instrumentation. Like the formation of the album itself\, New Blue Sun LIVE is largely free-form\, drawing inspiration from the present moment and the surroundings of each performance to create immersive\, exploratory sonic experiences. \nAndré Benjamin—best known as André 3000—is one of the most revered\, celebrated artists of the last three decades\, an auteur whose work in music\, film\, fine arts\, fashion\, and more continues to influence the cultural landscape on a global scale. His work as one half of the iconic hip-hop duo Outkast\, with Anton “Big Boi” Patton\, established a brand new voice and style within rap that had never been experienced before. The nine-time Grammy-winning artist released his first solo album in 20 years this past November—New Blue Sun\, a wind focused\, instrumental album that represents the next step in André’s creative evolution. Released to widespread critical acclaim\, New Blue Sun became the first instrumental album to land on the Billboard Top 200 Chart\, and the opening track “I Swear\, I Really Wanted to Make a ‘Rap’ Album But This Is Literally the Way the Wind Blew Me This Time\,” broke the record for longest song to debut on the Billboard Hot 100. It was nominated for 3 Grammy Awards in 2025\, including “Album of the Year.” \nNew Blue Sun is curated by Eliza Ryan\, Curator at Large. \nNew Blue Sun is co-presented by Aspen Art Museum and the City of Aspen’s Wheeler Opera House. \nNew Blue Sun is made possible through a generous gift from Steve Tisch and Jamie Tisch. \n

SUMMARY:Anna Tivel with Luke Henry
DESCRIPTION:Anna Tivel is a Portland\, Oregon-based\, internationally touring songwriter who is forever drawn to the quiet stories of ordinary life. The characters and imagery that populate her writing are full of breath and vivid color. With six full-length albums out and a seventh on the way\, Anna has been likened to a short story writer and praised by NPR\, Rolling Stone\, Billboard\, and others for her keen observations of the human condition. In fact\, Ann Powers of NPR Music had this to say\, “Anna Tivel is just one of my absolute favorite living songwriters. Her writing on [Outsiders] is at the same level as Paul Simon when he wrote ‘The Boxer’ and ‘American Tune.'” \nLuke Henry is a Nashville-based singer-songwriter originally from Colorado\, blending honest Americana storytelling with a modern folk-pop sound. Fans of Noah Kahan\, James Taylor\, and Ed Sheeran will feel right at home. His songs dig into fleeting moments\, emotional turns\, and the kind of stories you feel more than hear. Luke’s debut album is set to drop later in 2025. \n
