SUMMARY:Judy Collins
DESCRIPTION:For more than five decades\, Judy Collins has captivated audiences with her breathtaking vocals\, evocative songwriting\, and deep commitment to social causes. From the 1960s\, she has been a powerful voice for justice\, using her music to champion the ideals of a generation. Today\, her music continues to inspire\, with new generations discovering her 55-album legacy and finding solace in her artistic resilience. \nAn award-winning singer-songwriter\, Collins is celebrated for her evocative interpretations of both traditional and contemporary folk songs\, as well as her deeply personal and poetic original compositions. Her iconic rendition of Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now” from her 1967 album Wildflowers earned a spot in the Grammy Hall of Fame\, while her hauntingly intimate version of Stephen Sondheim’s “Send in the Clowns” won “Song of the Year” at the 1975 Grammy Awards. Over the years\, she has garnered gold and platinum albums and top-ten hits\, and contemporary artists like Rufus Wainwright\, Dolly Parton\, and Joan Baez have paid tribute to her with the album Born to the Breed: A Tribute to Judy Collins. \nHer latest album\, Spellbound (2022)\, marks a special milestone\, as it features all original material written by Collins herself. The introspective album\, which includes 12 new songs and a bonus track of her timeless “The Blizzard\,” was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Folk Album in 2023. \nWith a schedule that continues to include sold-out shows across the country\, Collins is preparing to release her first book of poetry\, Sometimes It’s Heaven\, in March 2025. The collection offers an intimate\, biographical look at her life\, capturing the ethereal nature of her artistry in a new and deeply personal form. \n“You could argue Collins has earned that ‘legend’ distinction as much by interpreting and inspiring songs as she has by writing or singing them…” – Edmonton Journal

SUMMARY:Songs from The Unauthorized Untitled Hunter S. Thompson Musical with Joe Iconis & Family
DESCRIPTION:Join Tony Award Nominee Joe Iconis (Be More Chill) and cast members of his incendiary new musical about Hunter S. Thompson as they present a sneak peek concert of songs and stories from the show\, ahead of their 2025 summer run at Washington D.C.’s Signature Theatre\, directed by Tony Award Winner Christopher Ashley. The Untitled Unauthorized Hunter S. Thompson Musical is an anarchic and irreverent portrait of Woody Creek’s favorite renegade mad genius. Careening from the 1940s to 2005\, the show follows Thompson as he invents Gonzo journalism\, attempts to take down a corrupt president\, and quests for equality for his fellow weirdos\, outsiders and freaks. Joe Iconis & his Family of musical theater renegades are New York City cabaret legends\, and they are so excited to bring their unique blend of rock’n’roll and classic musical theater to Aspen for the first time. \n“Funny\, freaky\, informal\, fiercely independent… an emotional passing of the torch to the future activists of the world\, a celebration of and a primal call to the freaks and misfits.” – San Diego Magazine‘s review of the original sold out production at La Jolla Playhouse. \n“Joe Iconis is the Future of Musical Theater.” -The New York Times \nHis musical Be More Chill (with Joe Tracz) has played Broadway\, London\, and Tokyo and his new show The Untitled Unauthorized Hunter S. Thompson Musical (directed by Christopher Ashley) will play Washington D.C.’s Signature Theater this spring. Joe is the author of Love in Hate Nation (directed by John Simpkins; Two River Theater)\, Broadway Bounty Hunter (with Lance Rubin and Jason SweetTooth Williams; Greenwich House Theater Off-Broadway\, Barrington Stage Company)\, Bloodsong of Love (Ars Nova\, NAMT)\, Punk Rock Girl! (for Lively McCabe)\, The Black Suits (with Robert Maddock; Center Theater Group\, Barrington Stage Company)\, ReWrite (Urban Stages\, Goodspeed)\, Things To Ruin (2nd Stage Theater\, The Zipper  Factory) and Theaterworks USA’s The Plant That Ate Dirty Socks and We the People. His music appeared on season two of NBC’s Smash and he frequently performs with his concert act Joe Iconis & Family at 54 Below and the Laurie Beechman Theater. \nJoe Iconis’s albums include the 44-song retrospective Album\, the original cast recordings of Love in Hate Nation\, Broadway Bounty Hunter\, Things To Ruin\, and Be More Chill (both Original Cast Recording and Original Broadway Cast Recording have been streamed over 750 million times). Two-Player Game (with George Salazar)\, and The Joe Iconis Rock & Roll Jamboree are available on Sh-K-Boom/Ghostlight Records. Joe is hugely inspired by Robert Altman\, Dolly Parton\, The Muppets\, and the Family of artists he frequently surrounds himself with. \n\nThe east coast premiere of the Untitled Unauthorized Hunter S. Thompson Musical will take place at Signature Theatre in Arlington\, VA from June 3 through July 13. Information and tickets at SigTheatre.org\n

SUMMARY:Inspire Aspen Songwriter Series
DESCRIPTION:Inspire Aspen Foundation is proud to present a special evening of music featuring Nashville singer/songwriter Colleen McKenna\, alongside our talented local musicians\, Tristan Trincado and Gracie Searle-Feinberg\, in a unique “Songwriter in the Round” performance . This intimate event marks the culmination of a two-day songwriting workshop with Inspire Aspen’s students\, where they have had the opportunity to collaborate\, create\, and refine their original songs. During the performance\, the students will not only showcase their work but also share the stories and inspirations behind their songs\, providing a deeper connection to the music. Join us for an evening of creativity\, inspiration\, and the power of storytelling through song. \nColleen McKenna blends the heart of classic country with the soul of faith-driven storytelling. Originally from Ohio\, she moved to Nashville after high school and quickly made a name for herself\, hosting songwriter rounds at the Listening Room Cafe and penning lead singles for the Ryan Waters Band. At just 20\, her lyrics explore love\, heartbreak\, and hope with a voice far beyond her years. Her music spans both country and Christian genres\, with viral hits like “WWJD” and original worship songs such as “Revival” and “Reason to Trust.” With two independent country projects—Rewind and Broken Record—and performances across the U.S.\, Mexico\, and Italy\, McKenna continues to craft music that connects across stages\, sanctuaries\, and everywhere in between. \nTristan Trincado is quickly getting recognized for his old soul expressive vocals that sing straight to the heart. As senior at Basalt High School\, he captured the attention of the Inspire Aspen Foundation and emerged victorious in their prestigious\, Aspen Rocks\, in 2024. His debut original song\, “Sinner\,” is now available on all music platforms and is featured on the @gibsonguitar playlist\, where he has been proudly named the CEO’s favorite new artist. \nGracie Searle-Feinberg has a unique singer/songwriter style and her catchy lyrics will make you forget she’s a senior at Aspen High School. Since the age of 9\, she has been writing her own music and performing on the streets of Aspen. Currently\, she is in the process of creating her debut album at Mad Dog Ranch+Studios\, working alongside the Inspire Aspen Foundation. Notably\, Gracie was a winner in their esteemed program\, Aspen Rocks\, in 2022. Proceeds from the event will benefit Inspire Aspen Foundation and go towards giving unique opportunities to student musicians in the Aspen Snowmass Roaring Fork Valley to pursue their talents and musical journeys.
