SUMMARY:The Music Is You: Songs of John Denver with Mack Bailey & Chris Nole
DESCRIPTION:You fill up my senses is a great description of how many people feel when they hear the music of John Denver. This show will rekindle the wonderful feeling when John used to sing to us. Mack Baily was fortunate to share a stage with John Denver\, and Chris Nole toured with John as his piano player for many years. This is a wonderfully intimate performance by two of John’s friends and some of the most sincere performers of John Denver’s music. \nWith his strong\, expressive\, classically trained tenor voice\, Mack Bailey\, is a nationally acclaimed singer/songwriter who has performed all over the world as a member of the renowned folk group\, The Limeliters. As a member of The Hard Travelers and “Tribute to John Denver” productions\, Mack has sung with dozens of folk and country stars\, as well as performing with his wife Rachel Levy as duo. With a masters degree in music therapy\, Mack currently resides in Aspen\, Colorado\, where he has a private practice working with the Aspen School District and with his 501(c)(3)\, Music Therapy of the Rockies. www.mackbailey.com \nAccomplished pianist\, songwriter\, and performer\, Chris Nole\, has worked with some of the biggest names in music. Nole recorded and toured internationally with folk/pop superstar John Denver in the 1990s until October 1997. Residing in Tennessee\, Chris keeps busy as a music producer and session musician. www.chrisnole.com

SUMMARY:Aspen Community Theatre presents: Once Upon A Mattress - Oct 27
DESCRIPTION:Many moons ago in a far-off place\, Queen Aggravain decreed no couples could marry until her son\, Prince Dauntless\, found a bride. Princesses came from far and wide to win the hand of the prince\, but none could pass the impossible tests given to them by the Queen. That is\, until the “shy” swamp princess\, Winnifred the Woebegone\, showed up. Would she be able to pass the Sensitivity Test\, marry her prince and help Lady Larkin and Sir Harry to the altar? Carried on a wave of wonderful songs – but turns hilarious and raucous\, romantic and melodic – this rollicking spin on the classic tale of The Princess and the Pea provides some side-splitting shenanigans; for after all\, a princess is a delicate thing. \nONCE UPON A MATTRESS\nMusic by MARY RODGERS\nLyrics by MARSHALL BARER\nBook by JAY THOMPSON\, DEAN FULLER\, and MARSHALL BARER \nONCE UPON A MATTRESS is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals www.concordtheatricals.com

SUMMARY:Shining Mountains Film Festival - Program 1
DESCRIPTION:PROGRAM  1\nLakota Nation vs. United States chronicles the Lakota Indians’ quest to reclaim the Black Hills\, sacred land that was stolen in violation of treaty agreements. A searing\, timely portrait of resistance\, the film explores the ways America has ignored its debt to Indigenous communities\, and ponders what might be done today to repair the wrongs of the past. \nThe Shining Mountains Film Festival was started in 2019 to commemorate the 1st anniversary of the City of Aspen passing a resolution removing the celebration of Columbus Day and replacing it with Indigenous Peoples’ Day. \nThe purpose was: through films/documentaries produced\, and directed\, stories told by Native Americans – First Nations’ voices\, we would provide a platform to educate non-Indian communities about the true history\, genocide\, challenges\, and struggles as well as sharing the rich Native culture\, talents\, wisdom and traditional ways. Thus\, breaking the stereotypes\, and shining light on the reality of what has been done to the Indigenous Peoples since colonization\, the ongoing racism\, and systemic injustice.  In recognizing all the talents\, and positive and unique impacts that the Indigenous Peoples contribute to the world\, showing that a strong spiritual connection with Mother Earth and all beings leads to a balanced and harmonious world. Shining Mountains Film Festival showcases feature films and documentaries as well as shorts for two days at the iconic Wheeler Opera House in the heart of Aspen. \nThe festival opens with a Blessing Prayer by a Ute tribe member. We aim to bring as many film directors\, producers and talent for live Q & A after each screening. There is also a live dance performance exhibition and genuine Native art for sale in the lobby area. This is an award film festival with Best Long\, Best Short and Audience choice. \nPresented by the Aspen Indigenous Foundation
