SUMMARY:ACES and The Nature Conservancy Presents Witness to Water: A photographer’s lifelong journey
DESCRIPTION:Witness to Water follows the Colorado River from its pristine headwaters in the Rocky Mountains to its altered and endangered end in the Sonoran Desert. In this immersive multimedia presentation and book launch celebration\, acclaimed National Geographic photographer and filmmaker Pete McBride shares images\, videos\, and sound from decades spent documenting the river from source to sea—or dry delta—and its many tributaries\, from the Roaring Fork to the Gila and beyond. \nThrough travel by packraft\, on foot\, and from the air\, McBride bears witness to both the river’s extraordinary beauty and the immense pressures placed upon it. The program features brand-new work from recent visits to emerging conservation pockets in the Colorado River Delta and newly revealed slot canyons in Lake Powell\, landscapes hidden underwater for a lifetime\, alongside Indigenous and local perspectives that deepen the story. \nA Roaring Fork Valley native\, McBride brings a deeply personal lens to this presentation\, weaving together his films\, assignments\, and books into a comprehensive\, engaging\, and hopeful portrait. Both an elegy and a call to action\, Witness to Water is an unforgettable exploration of a river in peril—and a reminder of what is at stake for the wild watersheds that sustain us all. \nA Q&A and book signing will take place at the end of the event.

SUMMARY:Changemaker Speaker Series Jean Fruth: Inside America's Favorite Pastime
DESCRIPTION:Jean Fruth’s trajectory as one of baseball’s preeminent photographers has taken her on a round-the-horn tour of the sport’s most indelible landmarks. Growing up in New York City\, Jean’s earliest memories are of her Grandfather listening to his beloved New York Mets on a tiny transistor radio. In school\, Jean fell in love with the alchemy of photography. When she moved west as a young adult she immersed herself in the business\, becoming a portrait photographer in the wine country of California. When life got busy and she found herself spending hours at the field of her son’s Little League games\, she started shooting the action\, eventually submitting images to the local paper. That’s when the local editor spotted her keen eye for sports photography and invited her to submit more. Jean tried her hand at different sports but found that nothing compared to the art and poetry of baseball. To outsiders\, it’s a slow-moving sport; to aficionados\, it’s an orchestra of strategy\, timing\, and sheer athleticism. \nThrough her journey\, Jean has recognized the transformative power of baseball to help young people develop strength\, skills\, friendships\, and to learn and practice the concept of teamwork. As a result\, together with her partner\, former Hall of Fame President Jeff Idelson\, she formed a non-profit organization called Grassroots Baseball\, to promote and celebrate the amateur game around the globe\, with a focus on encouraging interest and participation at the youngest levels. She is documenting their journey in a series of books\, starting with Grassroots Baseball: Where Legends Begin (Simon & Schuster\, 2019) with an introduction by Cal Ripken\, Jr.\, and an afterword by Johnny Bench.

SUMMARY:The Wood Brothers
DESCRIPTION:Grammy-nominated trio The Wood Brothers formed after brothers Chris and Oliver Wood spent more than a decade pursuing separate musical paths. Chris Wood is widely known for his work as a founding member of Medeski Martin & Wood\, while Oliver Wood built a devoted following leading the Southern roots band King Johnson. Joined by multi-instrumentalist Jano Rix\, the trio has become one of roots music’s most respected acts\, releasing nine studio albums and performing to sold-out audiences across North America. Their latest release\, Puff of Smoke\, reflects on impermanence and mindfulness\, delivered through inventive songwriting\, rich textures\, and an improvisational approach shaped by years of collaboration. \nWith special guest\, Margo Cilker \nIn the wake of the critically acclaimed “Valley of Hearts Delight” and her stunning debut “Pohoryll” Margo Cilker has made a name for herself as a clear-eyed troubadour\, spinning songs from everyday truths. Her live performances are at once intimate and electric\, inviting glimpses into the characters and moments that are the fabric of life. She makes her home near the Columbia River in Goldendale\, Washington with her husband\, songwriter and working cowboy Forrest VanTuyl\, as well their dog and some horses. \n \nThe Wood Brothers have partnered with American Friends of Canadian Conservation so that $1 per ticket will support The Nature Trust of British Columbia (NTBC) in their efforts to conserve ecologically-rich wetlands and protect irreplaceable land from development. Every $1 donated will be matched by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service with $2 so more endangered wetlands can be saved. If you’d like to learn more\, please visit this link.

SUMMARY:Los Lonely Boys
DESCRIPTION:For Los Lonely Boys—brothers Henry\, Jojo\, and Ringo Garza—family has always been at the heart of their music. After years of touring\, the trio took a break in 2019 to focus on their families\, returning to the road in 2022 reinvigorated and even opening for The Who. \nHailing from San Angelo\, Texas\, the Garzas created their own bluesy “Texican rock & roll” sound and turned it into a global sensation. Their breakthrough came when Willie Nelson’s nephew discovered their demo; Willie soon booked them for Farm Aid and recorded with them at his studio. Their 2003 debut album\, Los Lonely Boys\, re-released by Epic\, featured the No. 1 hit “Heaven\,” which earned them a Grammy and spent 76 weeks on the Billboard Top 200\, selling over two million copies. \nThey’ve collaborated with legends like Carlos Santana and Willie Nelson\, played iconic venues\, and supported global causes. Their journey\, chronicled in the documentary Cottonfields and Crossroads\, has seen both triumph and hardship—most notably Henry’s serious stage accident in 2013\, which led the band to refocus on what matters most: family and music. \nNow back in stride\, Los Lonely Boys continue to write\, record\, and tour with renewed passion. Their 2024 release\, Resurrection (BMG)\, blends their signature Texican rock & roll with elements of soul and roots music\, earning critical acclaim and energizing live audiences. More than two decades after their debut\, they remain a vital force in music\, proving their story is still unfolding.

Their performances are a joyful collision of skill\, wit\, and absurdity—where objects fly\, jokes land\, and audiences leave grinning. \n“As close to a sure thing as can be found onstage\, 100 minutes of cleverness and comedy that go by in a flash.” — The New York Times \n“Extraordinary entertainment! Don’t walk\, don’t run\, FLY to see the amazing Karamazovs!” — NY1 \n“Humor\, wit and impeccable timing! The Karamazovs manage to generate more drama\, excitement and pleasure than found in a lot of the stuff that passes for entertainment nowadays.” — USA Today \n“A marvelous mix of the Marx Brothers\, Monty Python and ‘Hellzapoppin’… A unique entertainment! You have to be there and you should be there as soon as possible. Catch it!”— Clive Barnes\, New York Post
