SUMMARY:Consensual Improv in The Vault
DESCRIPTION:Consensual Improv was formed in 2016 and has been winging it ever since. Composed of comedians and actors living in Colorado’s Roaring Fork Valley\, their shows are an interactive and hilarious journey with the audience at the helm. The group has been a regular at the Aspen Laugh Festival and shared the bill with Trevor Noah\, Second City\, and the late\, great Norm MacDonald. Current members include Al Atkinson\, Kristin Carlson\, Gerald DeLisser\, Eliphalet (Miller) Ford\, Nina Gabianelli\, Emily Henley\, Ryan Honey\, Brian Keleher\, Mike Monroney\, Zoe Rom\, Jeff Patterson\, Jack Trembath\, and Cassidy Willey. \n“We are really excited to be back for a show in the Wheeler Vault\,” said Ryan Honey\, long-time Consensual Improv cast member. “The Aspen audiences are always a blast\, and for the members of Consensual Improv that live in Aspen\, it’s especially convenient. So convenient\, in fact\, those very same members have declared August 15 Bike-to-Work-Day. How nice for them. The rest of us will start training now\, so we are in good enough shape to bike to Aspen\, be hilarious\, and then bike home. If you’ll excuse me\, I need to get on my Peloton.”

SUMMARY:Terrence McNally’s Tony Award Winning Master Class
DESCRIPTION:The Aspen Music Festival and School and Theatre Aspen once again collaborate to co-present Terrence McNally’s Tony Award winning Master Class. Maria Callas is brought back to life in this 1995 Broadway play\, inspired by the legendary series of master classes given by the opera diva at Juilliard toward the end of her career. The full-length drama puts her center stage again as she coaxes\, prods\, and inspires students – “victims” as she calls them – into giving the performances of their lives while revealing the disappointments in her own life and her relationship with the shipping tycoon Aristotle Onassis. Regarded as “rich\, vivid\,” and “satisfying” by The New York Times\, and a “total triumph” by the Star-Ledger\, this classic production comes to life in Aspen’s historic Wheeler Opera House. \nMaster Class features direction by Tony®\, Drama Desk\, and Outer Critics Circle Award winner Joanna Gleason (Into the Woods\, The Normal Heart). \nStarring as opera star Maria Callas is two-time Tony Award- and two-time Drama Desk Award-winning actress Phylicia Rashad (A Raisin in the Sun\, Skeleton Crew).

SUMMARY:JAS June Experience presents Lisa Fischer
DESCRIPTION:After four decades of featured background singing with icons like Luther Vandross\, The Rolling Stones\, Chaka Khan\, Tina Turner\, and Nine Inch Nails\, MS. LISA FISCHER set out to take center stage with her own humble\, heartfelt song. The 2013 Best Documentary Oscar-winning film “Twenty Feet from Stardom” altered the course of Lisa’s musical journey\, telling her story with clips of her legendary duets with Sting or with Mick Jagger on “Gimme Shelter”\, left audiences eager to see and hear more\, so Lisa took the chance to set out on her reinventing classic songs with her co-conspirators JC Maillard and Grand Baton. Their organic fusion of Caribbean psychedelic soul and jazzy progressive rock ignited Lisa’s flexibility and freedom of expression\, awakening her lifelong desire to make music that heals but still rocks the house. \nRaised in the Fort Greene neighborhood of Brooklyn\, she emerged from New York’s fervent studio scene in the early 1980s\, sang for two decades with legendary vocalist Luther Vandross\, and released “So Intense”\, earning her first Best R&B Performance Grammy with “How Can I Ease The Pain”. She joined the Rolling Stones for their 1989 Steel Wheels tour and continued to grace their stage for the next 26 years. With spiritual truth-telling as her compass and loving-kindness as her guide\, MS. LISA FISCHER continues her creative journey\, destination unknown.
