SUMMARY:Leftover Salmon
DESCRIPTION:Few bands stick around for thirty-five years. Even fewer bands leave a legacy during that\ntime that marks them as a truly special\, once-in-lifetime type band. And no band has done\nall that and had as much fun as Leftover Salmon. \nSince their earliest days as a forward thinking\, progressive bluegrass band who had the\nguts to add drums to the mix and who was unafraid to stir in any number of highly\ncombustible styles into their ever evolving sound\, to their role as a pioneer of the modern\njamband scene\, to their current status as elder-statesmen of the scene who cast a huge\ninfluential shadow over every festival they play\, Leftover Salmon has been a crucial link in\nkeeping alive the traditional music of the past while at the same time pushing that sound\nforward with their own weirdly\, unique style. \nThe band now features a lineup that has been together longer than any other in Salmon\nhistory and is one of the strongest the legendary band has ever assembled. Built around\nthe core of founding members Drew Emmitt and Vince Herman\, the band is now powered\nby banjo-wiz Andy Thorn and driven by the steady rhythm section of bassist Greg Garrison\,\ndrummer Alwyn Robinson\, and dobro player & keyboardist Jay Starling. \nThe current lineup is continuing the long\, storied history of Salmon which found them first\nemerging from the progressive bluegrass world and coming of age as one the original jam\nbands\, before rising to become architects of what has become known as Jamgrass and\nhelping to create a landscape where bands schooled in the traditional rules of bluegrass\ncan break free of those bonds through nontraditional instrumentation and an innate ability\nto push songs in new psychedelic directions live. \nSalmon is a band who for more than thirty-five years has never stood still; they are\nconstantly changing\, evolving\, and inspiring. If someone wanted to understand what\nAmericana music is they could do no better than to go to a Leftover Salmon show\, where\nthey eQortlessly glide from a bluegrass number born on the front porch\, to the down-anddirty\nCajun swamps with a stop on Bourbon Street in New Orleans\, to the hallowed halls of\nthe Ryman in Nashville\, before firing one up in the mountains of Colorado.

SUMMARY:Cat in the Hat
DESCRIPTION:This Cat in the Hat performance has been presented more than 300 performances in over 60 cities and recognized by the Dr. Seuss estate as the “Number 1 version of the show worldwide.” \nWritten by Theodor “Dr. Seuss” Geisel in 1957 using a vocabulary of only 200 words\, The Cat in the Hat has become an enduring work of children’s literature. The book was adapted for the stage in 2009 by the National Theatre of Great Britain\, translating its rhythmic language\, recognizable characters\, and visual imagination into live theater. \nThis performance follows the book’s familiar story as the Cat turns the house upside down with the help of Thing One and Thing Two. Before the children’s mother returns\, the Cat deploys the red Picker-Up Machine to put everything back in place. The stage adaptation combines physical comedy\, theatrical surprises\, and inventive design while preserving the playful tension between disorder and responsibility at the heart of the original story. \nThis performance is suitable for ages 3 and up.

SUMMARY:JS Bach's The Art of Fugue by Circa
DESCRIPTION:Created by Yaron Lifschitz with the Circa Ensemble and based on the original production created with the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra and its Artistic Director\, Paul Dyer\, The Art of Fugue brings together two remarkable disciplines: the intellectual rigor of Johann Sebastian Bach’s final masterpiece and the physical mastery of contemporary acrobatics. \nFeaturing 2025 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition Silver Medalist Vitaly Starikov\, Bach’s intricate and unfinished The Art of Fugue unfolds live at the piano while Circa’s internationally acclaimed ensemble responds through movement\, balance\, and aerial artistry. Under the direction of visionary circus creator Yaron Lifschitz\, the performers translate Bach’s complex counterpoint into a striking physical language that explores precision\, discipline\, and human potential. \nRenowned worldwide for redefining contemporary circus\, Circa creates performances where exceptional athleticism and sophisticated artistry exist in equal measure. In The Art of Fugue\, music and movement intersect in a work that examines the limits of both intellectual and physical achievement. \n“Seamless marriage of music\, balletic tumbling and mind-blowing balancing acts.” — The Daily Telegraph \n“Eighty-five minutes of breathtaking physical performance.” — Limelight \nCommissioned by the Moss Arts Center\, Virginia Tech and the University of Georgia Performing Arts Center. \nCirca acknowledges the assistance of the Australian Government through Creative Australia\, its principal arts investment and advisory body\, and the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland. \nPresented in association with Aspen Music Festival and School

SUMMARY:DanceAspen: Take Me Home
DESCRIPTION:Take Me Home\, a world-premiere production from DanceAspen\, brings John Denver’s music together with contemporary dance in a new evening-length work by DanceAspen. Seven dancers perform within a visual world shaped by Americana-inspired costumes and cinematic projections\, accompanied by either a live band or recorded music. \nSet to songs including “Take Me Home\, Country Roads\,” “Rocky Mountain High\,” “Annie’s Song\,” “Sunshine on My Shoulders\,” and “Leaving on a Jet Plane\,” the work follows four interwoven stories of love\, separation\, conflict\, and belonging. Denver’s familiar music gives audiences an immediate connection to the piece\, while the choreography offers a new way to experience it. \nBalancing familiarity with discovery\, the work welcomes dance audiences\, John Denver listeners\, families\, and first-time contemporary dancegoers into a story they already feel connected to. \nTake Me Home brings together an acclaimed creative team led by choreographers Jamar Roberts\, Pam Tanowitz\, Penny Saunders\, Noelle Kayser\, Jonah Delgado\, and Matthew Gilmore. Music direction is by Mack Bailey\, the Aspen musician who performed with John Denver. The production’s visual world is further shaped by John Horzen’s projection and video design\, costume design by Reid & Harriet\, and lighting design by Anna Pillot\, creating a richly layered theatrical experience that complements DanceAspen’s contemporary interpretation of Denver’s iconic music. \nTake Me Home is a DanceAspen production commissioned by the City of Aspen’s Wheeler Opera House\, Mike Harrington (Executive Director). Creative Producer: Allison Walsh.

SUMMARY:Cirque Kalabante: World of Words
DESCRIPTION:Cirque Kalabanté: WOW\, World of Words explores communication beyond spoken language through circus\, storytelling\, music\, and movement. At Wheeler Opera House in Aspen\, the production brings two groups together on a stage divided by a symbolic line. One shares ancestral African knowledge through stories\, songs\, and ritual initiation\, while the other receives\, learns\, and sometimes resists. \nAs language becomes an obstacle\, gesture\, rhythm\, and sound form a new vocabulary. Double Dutch skipping\, bungee straps\, rope-based contortion\, and acrobatic contact become pathways for dialogue. Guided by Trust\, Respect\, and Wisdom\, the performers gradually dissolve the boundary between them\, blending traditional and contemporary movement in a choreography of unity and collective awakening. \nKalabanté Productions was founded in Montreal in 2007 by Yamoussa Bangoura\, a multidisciplinary artist of Guinean origin whose work draws on West African traditions and international circus experience. The company now performs worldwide and operates a Montreal studio and school offering African dance\, circus\, and drumming classes.

SUMMARY:Wheeler Associates Presents: Andy Falco & Travis Book Play Jerry Garcia
DESCRIPTION:Andy Falco and Travis Book are both members of the Grammy\naward winning bluegrass band The Infamous Stringdusters.\nInspired by their love of the music of Jerry Garcia\, the duo branches\noff on their own for occasional tours to celebrate Garcia’s timeless\nsongs. \n“The project actually originated back stage at ‘Dusters shows where\nTravis and I would typically warm up with some fun Jerry songs”\nFalco explains. “At some point we just thought it would be fun to\ndo it in public” \nThey draw from Garcia’s solo material\, his Grateful Dead catalogue\nas well as the Traditional songs Jerry loved to play. \n“Performing this music as a duo allows us to explore the songs and\njam in a way that’s unique to playing as a Duo” Says Book. “We\ntypically hear these songs in larger ensembles\, but the songs done\nwith just bass and guitar somehow make the music very interactive\nwith the audience. It’s really a testament to the quality of the\nsongwriting\, and we like to put a spotlight on that aspect of Jerry.”

SUMMARY:Changemaker Speaker Series Casey Anderson: Among Wild Predators
DESCRIPTION:Part of the Changemaker Speaker Series\, wildlife filmmaker and National Geographic explorer Casey Anderson brings audiences face‑to‑face with the animals most people avoid: grizzlies\, mountain lions\, tigers\, and other apex predators. Drawing on three decades in the field—including being charged\, bitten\, clawed\, stung\, and even raising a grizzly bear—Anderson pairs breathtaking imagery with deeply personal stories that challenge long‑held myths about “dangerous” wildlife. \nAmong Wild Predators is both an adventure and a reframing: predators as vital\, intelligent beings—and as mirrors of our own courage\, empathy\, and survival instincts. At 26 he adopted an orphaned cub and later co‑founded Montana Grizzly Encounter\, a sanctuary for bears rescued from inhumane situations. A familiar presence across Nat Geo WILD\, BBC\, PBS\, and Discovery\, Anderson translates close‑range encounters into insight about coexistence\, risk\, and respect for the wild. \nPresented in association with Aspen Center for Environmental Studies
