Performed and presented by your neighbors and friends\, Neil Simon’s “Rumors” promises to be a night of farce and fun. “Rumors” contains adult language and themes. \nAt a tastefully appointed Snedens Landing home\, the Deputy Mayor of New York has been shot on the night of his tenth wedding anniversary. Though it’s only a flesh wound\, the incident sets off a series of events causing four couples to unite in a fast and furious experience of farce. As the first couple arrives for the party\, they discover the Deputy Mayor bleeding in another room and his wife nowhere to be found. They scramble to “get their story straight” and protect their friend while maintaining the celebratory atmosphere. With each new guests’ arrival\, the story layers evolve adding confusion and complexity resulting in an evening of classical farce hilarity. \n“Rumors” marks ACT’s first non-musical theatrical production since 1999\, a nod to their storied history as they gear up for a landmark 50th anniversary year in 2026. Princesses came from far and wide to win the hand of the prince\, but none could pass the impossible tests given to them by the Queen. That is\, until the “shy” swamp princess\, Winnifred the Woebegone\, showed up. Would she be able to pass the Sensitivity Test\, marry her prince and help Lady Larkin and Sir Harry to the altar?
