Wheeler Advisory Board
The Wheeler Advisory Board is empowered to advise the City of Aspen with the planning and policy related to the daily and long-term operations of the Wheeler Opera House.
- Recommend scheduling policy, priority and rates for the theatre operations; and
- Recommend operating policy and rental rates for the commercial space in the Wheeler Opera House building (restaurant and gallery space).
Meetings
The Wheeler Advisory Board meets on the second Wednesday of the month. Meetings are typically held at 3:00pm in the Wheeler’s Vault Bar lobby. Time and location may change, please check the calendar on Aspen, CO | Official Website for the confirmed time and location.

In Memoriam, Richie Cohen:
Former Wheeler Advisory Board Vice Chairperson Richie Cohen died on July 3, 2017. Richie was a member of the Wheeler Advisory Board from the mid 1980’s until his death. His contributions to the Wheeler Opera House and the arts community of Aspen were innumerable, including his support of the Wheeler Real Estate Transfer Tax creation and subsequent renewals, which will continue to support the arts community long into the future.

Be an Advisory Board member
- Positions are filled as vacancy occurs. All members (minus the Aspen Music Festival & School MFS ex-officio seat) serve overlapping three-year terms.
- The Advisory Board is appointed by City Council with all appointees designated as at-large appointees who shall be selected primarily for their knowledge of and experience in the performing arts and/or financial, management or marketing capabilities.
- All members of the Advisory Board serve at the pleasure of City Council and may be removed by majority vote thereof.
