Native Voices, Big Laughs: A Night of Indigenous Comedy
at the Wheeler Opera House

The Wheeler Opera House is proud to present an unforgettable evening of laughter, culture, and storytelling featuring the acclaimed trio from Legends of Native American Comedy. On Friday, October 24th at 7 PM, audiences will be treated to a high-energy showcase starring Jim RuelErnest Tsosie III, and Monique Moreau—three powerhouse performers bringing bold, fresh, and hilarious Native perspectives to the stage.

Each comedian offers a distinct voice rooted in Indigenous experience and identity:

  • Jim Ruel (Bay Mills Band of Ojibwe) is a comedian, writer, and filmmaker whose credits include Goin’ Native: The American Indian Comedy Slam (Showtime), The World Stands Up, and First Nations Comedy Experience. A finalist in NBC’s Diversity Talent Search, Ruel also co-hosts the Hollywood NDNz podcast and runs Frybread Productions, a Native-owned media company.
  • Ernest Tsosie III, a veteran actor and comedian, has appeared in Rez Ball (Netflix), LongmireBetter Call SaulDark Winds, and Rutherford Falls. Known for his quick wit and commanding stage presence, Tsosie has performed at top venues including the Laugh Factory, House of Comedy, and the Kennedy Center.
  • Monique Moreau, an autistic Cree/Saulteaux comedian, writer, and musician, brings razor-sharp humor and global experience to the stage. Her credits include the Edinburgh Fringe, Melbourne Comedy Festival, and San Francisco Sketchfest. She’s opened for Nick Kroll, Sarah Cooper, and Anthony Jeselnik, and written for Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go and American Girl.
