DanceAspen: Shifting Forms | Wednesday, August 27 & Thursday, August 28 at 7 PM
This bold new program explores how life’s shifts mirror the uncertainty we all face. Featuring a world premiere by acclaimed choreographer Garrett Smith, inspired by the music of Nils Frahm. Smith has said that, “I imagine that the performers are taken by this hypnotic energy, as if maybe casting spells or even under a spell themselves.” The program also includes an Aspen premiere, the poignant Mother Tongue by Ihsan Rustem, and the return of audience favorite from 2023, Ever After by Yin Yue.
Alex Edelman: What Are You Going To Do | Saturday, September 6 at 8 PM
One of the most critically hailed comedians of his generation, Alex Edelman is best known for solo shows that blur the line between stand-up comedy and narrative-driven storytelling. His last offering, Just For Us, played more than 500 performances worldwide, including on Broadway—before premiering as an HBO original comedy special in April 2024. The show earned Edelman a spot on the Time 100 list, a Tony Award, and an Emmy Award. Edelman first appeared at the Wheeler in 2017 and will play Carnegie Hall this November.
Changemaker Speaker Series | Mireya Mayor: Pink Boots & A Machete | Tuesday, September 9 at 7 PM
Life as a mom of six and work as a world-renowned primatologist is no monkey business. National Geographic Explorer Mireya Mayor shares inspiring journey through her unconventional path to success—from NFL cheerleader to near-death experiences in the Congo and co-discovering the world’s smallest primate in Madagascar. Mayor has hosted dozens of documentaries, including Expedition Bigfoot (Discovery Channel), Wild Nights with Mireya Mayor (Nat Geo WILD), and Expedition Africa (History Channel). A Changemaker Speaker Series event, presented in association with Aspen Center for Environmental Studies.
Pure Prairie League: Back On Track Tour | Wednesday, September 10 at 7 PM
With over 50 years of groundbreaking music behind them, Pure Prairie League remains a vital force in country-rock. From their roots in 1960s Ohio to their current lineup—featuring Scott Thompson, Jared Camic, Randy Harper, Jeff Zona, and John Heinrich, the band continues to deliver high-energy performances and timeless sound. Now touring in support of their new album Back on Track, the band proves that after six decades, they’re still blazing the trail they helped create.
